Audubon Trip: May Flowers 5/10/16
We are really enjoying the materials we received from Donors Choose! This project was all about STEM so we have been using math and science skills to construct items used in some of the folktales we have read. The children had to make a plan, construct their products, and then test them. They worked together to make the 3 little pigs house, a bridge for the 3 billy goats gruff, and chairs for Goldilocks and the 3 bears. They also have been using Magna tiles to further their understanding of shapes and encourage them to use cooperative learning strategies.

Getting ready for Gallery Night! We painted with different textures and then cut out shapes to make spring objects. This project was inspired by author and illustrator Eric Carle.
Mayor Rawlings-Blake visited our classroom and we presented things we have learned through the ReLove program. We told her about how to be safe around dogs, what animals need, and what to do if we see an animal being abused or neglected. Our school was then presented an award for our dedication to teaching humane education. Then we had the chance to pet the Deputy Dog of the Day, Betty White. (4/22/16)
We finger painted flowers and then labeled the parts
Audubon Trip (4/14/16): We learned about reptiles! First, we made turtles and then we went on an adventure hike. We saw lots of caterpillars, ducks, and birds. We touched a turtle, a terrapin, and snake skin. Some friends had the chance to feed worms to the turtle and terrapin.
Service Day 4/11/16: We learned about the importance of recycling and then made recycled art. Click on the pictures to see what we made!

ReLove Animal Shelter
We opened up an animal shelter in our classroom and made bios for cats and dogs needing homes. We chose names, ages, and wrote sentences about our animals. People came to our shelter and adopted our animals! We presented our adopters with certificates after they promised to love our animals forever. We cheered every time a new animal was adopted.
